Le
Duc Hai, Le Ngoc Thanh are
twin brothers born in 1975. Encouraged by their parents, they taught
themselves to paint at the age of eight. Their passion for art brought
them to Hue, six years ago, where they started to study the masters, such
as Van Gogh, Picasso, Bui Xuan Phai, Nguyen Tu Nghiem and Tran Luu Hau.
Vo Xuan Huy is now a lecturer at an art college in Hue. He was chosen as one of two Vietnamese artists in the Thai-Vietnam contemporary art exhibition organized by four Fine Arts Universities from Thailand and Vietnam, which was held recently at Silpakorn University Art Gallery, Bangkok.

Le
Duc Hai and Le Ngoc Thanh’s paintings
are a fusion of East and West. The legacy of the French Impressionists,
the rich Vietnamese cultural traditions and spiritual symbolism are readily
apparent in their paintings. The most distinctive characteristics of their work are that they have forsaken realism and are eagerly integrating their energies and emotions into full explosive colours to create impressive graphic abstractions of their very individual style. They also have used lacquer as a medium for their artwork. Vo Xuan Huy, conversely, is a disciple of the traditional school of art reflecting his position as a teacher of art at Hue College D’ Art. He chooses his motifs and colours carefully and his art reflects the reality of everyday life. His refined sensibility, combined with strong brushstrokes, heavy outlines and gentle colours, creates an art that integrates both traditional and modern aesthetic. Le Duc Hai, Le Ngoc Thanh, and Vo Xuan Huy together represent a new generation of Vietnamese contemporary artists. L’Art de Viet |
